The internet never ceases to amaze me. So many fans and reporters think they know…none of you have a clue. https://t.co/bVtZAahYwT

Tommaso Ciampa (@ProjectCiampa) May 31, 2017

– Tonight’s show opens up with another new intro theme for the show, which is an improvement from the last one. A raucous crowd is ready for the show as Phillips, Watson, and McGuinness are on commentary. Tommaso Ciampa limps his way down to the ring with crutches.

– The crowd is a bit split between “Psycho Killer” and “Why, Ciampa, Why” chants. Ciampa asks for Gargano to come out for an explanation, but oh yes, he’s on the shelf. Ciampa asks if we want Gargano replaced, because he knows what it’s like to be replaced. He said that he sustained an injury on the Thursday before NXT TakeOver: Chicago. He says that due to the injury, that the fans were already replacing him in their minds. He says he’s not an afterthought. Ciampa says he let it go and wanted to keep fighting. He referenced the ladder match at TakeOver and he felt his knee pop. Ciampa says that just like the fans wanted to replace him, he thought Gargano would replace him if he were to be out for a long period of time. Ciampa said he did what he had to do and blames the fans for the split. He said if he was going to be out for a long time, so was Gargano, and his mind was made up. Ciampa said that Chicago was supposed to be DIY’s moment, but it ended up being HIS moment. He says he and Gargano are not replaceable, but the fans are. Ciampa says he will be the most dangerous S.O.B. when he returns and he is professional wrestling, whether we like it or not.

– We’ll have tag action later tonight with Ohno and Strong taking on Young and Wolfe. The new UK Champion Pete Dunne will take on Danny Burch.

– Quick vignette for Danny Burch.

– They provide an up date on Gargano, which is that they don’t have an update, as Gargano has reportedly kept quiet after the attack suffered from Ciampa.

– Video of Bobby Roode, who is taking his celebration elsewhere to an exclusive party, but promises to be back next week.

Pete Dunne vs. Danny Burch

Physical tie-up starts us off as both men putting a little extra mustard on their take down attempts. They trade holds and reversals with some nice chain wrestling. Burch takes a page out of Dunne’s book with some join manipulation and the champ retreats. We’ve entered the “bruising” part of the match as both men land thunderous strikes. Dunne with the slight advantage as we head to break.

We’re back and Dunne has shifted strategies to more of a brawling ground and pound. Burch hits a missile drop kick after getting the knees up on a Dunne attack. Burch nips up out of nowhere. Exploder from Burch and a big right hand across the jaw of the champ for a two. Knee strike and headbutt from Burch for another near fall. Dunne with a snap suplex and X-plex for a long two. Dunne looks for Bitter End but Burch counters. Dunne rolls it into a pin for a two. Burch with a huge lariat off a rope rebound and both men down. Burch hulks up but gets caught by Dunne right hand. Dunne looks for a springboard of sorts, but a right hand from Burch surprises the champ. Burch drapes Dunne over the top rope for a DDT and near fall. After a short exchange, Dunne slings Burch into the turnbuckle with a suplex to set up the Bitter End for the win. Nice match.

Winner via Pinfall: Pete Dunne

– After the match, Dunne takes the mic. He says he’s had to watch a “boy” carry a title since January that was rightfully his. He says the WWE UK brand will officially be able to start now that he has the title.

– Kayla Braxton backstage with Velveteen Dream. He doesn’t like the ambiance of the room or Kayla’s hair or dress. He says everything needs to be perfect, and he will fix it.

– Video package for Authors of Pain narrated by their manager, Paul Ellering. They cover a bit of character development, citing the origins of Akam and Razar.

Andrade “Cien” Almas vs. Cezar Bononi

Almas with an ambush on the much larger Bononi. He isn’t messing around tonight as he hits the double knees right off the bat. An open hand slap was heard throughout Full Sail. Bononi able to block an attack and deliver a few strikes, but Almas able to retake control with a neck breaker. Snapmare take down and diving drop kick from Almas. Bononi tries to fight back, but can’t make anything happen. Almas goes for a second double knees, stops for his trademark yell and slap to the face of his opponent. Almas nonchalantly goes for his finish, but Bononi rolls him up for the surprise win.

Winner via Pinfall: Cezar Bononi

– Video of Peyton Royce and Billie Kay with their vision for remodeling the Performance Center. Ember Moon walks by. The trainer comes out and asks Ember to sign her medical release form, much to the chagrin of the Iconic Duo.

– It’s announced that Asuka will face Ruby Riot and Nikki Cross in a triple threat in two weeks.

– Video of Hideo refusing comment after his match with Bobby Roode at TakeOver. He tears up the locker room. Ohno tries to be the voice of reason, but we get a lot “bleeps” from Itami as he storms off. We’re then shown Itami and Ohno shaking hands in the parking lot earlier in the day. Itami will take on Oney Lorcan next week.

SAnitY (Young/Wolfe) vs. Roderick Strong & Kassius Ohno

EY and Roddy get us started. Fast and furious from the get go as Strong ends a series with a beautiful back breaker. Wolfe tagged in but met with a Roddy drop kick. Tag made to Ohno and they double team the moshing Wolfe with forearm strikes in the corner. Wolfe able to create space and tag Young. Ohno living up to his mantra as he knocks out everything in sight. Killian Dain makes his presence known as he sweeps the leg of Ohno on the apron. After some double team offense, Young works over Ohno. Kassius tries to pump himself up but the comeback is stopped short. Ohno sent outside for another attack from the grizzly bear of SAnitY as we go to break.

We’re back and Young has a chin lock cinched in. Ohno chops his way out but sent straight back down by a shot from Young. Wolfe tagged in and another quick tag to Young. SAnitY continues the classic tag work with quick tags and cornering Ohno. Crowd pumping up Ohno, but Wolfe denies the tag once again. Ohno takes out both men, but Wolfe hits a big boot on the way to tag Strong. Young back in with a neck breaker for a near fall.

Strong with the hot tag and what a hot tag it is. High octane clotheslines and an Angle Slam. Wolfe seeing stars, but able to put his foot on the rope during a cover. Tag made to Young, which Strong doesn’t seen, and gets hit by a Young neck breaker. Action wild and woolly as bodies are everywhere. Young calls for Dain to get involved, but No Way Jose makes his triumvirate return to take out Dain and even the odds. Strong hits his new version of the back breaker for the win.

Jim Ross On Who Will Win Fatal Five Way At Extreme Rules, SmackDown Women’s Division

Source: JR’s BBQ

Jim Ross posted on his blog at JRsBarBQ.com. Here are some highlights:

Raw’s co-main events and who he think will win at Extreme Rules:

“Enjoyed the two main event bouts including Reigns vs Rollins and the 3-Way between Finn Balor, Samoa Joe, and Bray Wyatt, which all seemed to deliver as expected Monday night. These five will seemingly be counted on to deliver a strong, show closing presentation on Sunday night on the WWE Network during Extreme Rules from Baltimore. As I said on this week’s Ross Report Podcast, I see Finn Balor winning the main event Sunday at Extreme Rules which earns him a title bout with Brock Lesnar. Good luck on that one, Lad.”

The SmackDown Women’s Division and their upcoming Money in the Bank Ladder Match:

“SDLive saw the five women who were featured arguably ‘Steal the show’ Tuesday night in Atlanta. The SDLive women especially seems to relish in raising the athletic bar and to continue to break barriers previously set by their predecessors. From the cold open, where we heard sound bytes from the participants which made the match have more clout and importance, this was a memorable night for SDLive’s women. The creative felt right and the women including Charlotte, Nattie, Carmella, Becky Lynch, and Tamina all carried their share of the water in successfully building to the first ever MITB Women’s match in St Louis at the Money in the Bank event. It’s arguable that the women of SDLive are seemingly taking more advantage of maximizing their minutes in the ring and on TV in general. The risk/reward ratio is arguably never been higher for any female athlete in WWE to date with the booking of the MITB Match. Obviously these women will do all that they can to deliver a memorable outing at MITB, which likely concerns some fans, as it should.”

AJ Styles losing in his hometown against Dolph Ziggler:

“AJ Styles losing in ATL, his home market, was a bit of a surprise but not totally shocking. Other than seemingly taking the air out of the live audience a bit I see no issues with this outcome and for those who complain about the overall genre generally being too predictable, this outcome should have been acceptable to some degree. I thought the two had an enjoyable bout.”

Alexa Bliss On If She Cares What Fans Think, Being A Heel, Which Former WWE Champion Influenced Her

Source: The Weekender

Alexa Bliss spoke with The Weekender on a number of wrestling topics. Here are some of the highlights:

Being a heel and fans’ reactions:

“It’s so much easier to get people to hate you than to like you, and I kind of like to play with that a little bit. Not caring what the fans think and just kind of wanting them to hate me, even though I do kind of care what they think; it’s just so fun to portray this mean person, just to see how people react to it. It’s a lot of fun.”

Rey Mysterio’s influence on her outfits:

“Rey Mysterio used to have different outfits as well, and I used to watch Rey growing up; and I thought he was awesome because he had lucha style, which I liked because I was a gymnast. The fact he used to dress up as all kinds of different characters is where I got the idea to do that myself.”

Alexa Bliss also discussed her upcoming match with Bayley and always wanting a main roster feud against her.

Ryback On CM Punk’s $1 Million Offer, If He Would Return To WWE, Problems With SmackDown Live Breaks

Source: Conversation With The Big Guy

Recently on Conversation With The Big Guy, independent professional wrestler and professional wrestling podcaster Ryback Reeves talked about Dan Hinkles offering CM Punk $1 million to return to the squared circle for 5 Star Wrestling, SmackDown Live broadcasting live during commercial breaks, and whether a WWE return is on the horizon.

With respect to Hinkles’ $1 million offer to Punk, without naming names, Ryback suggested that Hinkles is the worst independent professional wrestling promoter he has encountered thus far in ‘The Big Guy”s current run on the indies.

“He just comes off like he says one thing and then says another thing. And then, like, out of all the promoters we’ve dealt with, he has been by far the worst.” Ryback said, “he showed up to one of the events in England when I was there, just like harassing me, essentially. I treated him beyond well for that, but if there was ever a delusional human being, he was one of them.”

Apparently, the unnamed promoter initially told Ryback he would be working only one match and then said he would be working three or four matches for the same compensation and ‘Big Hungry’ bowed out.

“We paid back the deposit. We said, ‘we can’t work for you’ because he essentially, I think, the agreement was for one match and then he said, ‘no, you have to wrestle in this tournament, three or four matches.’ Is that right? And just, like, no! And, like, just going back on his word and saying, ‘it was the biggest tournament in Scotland’ and ‘we’ve got a video game. We want to sign you to a huge contract.’ There is no

. It’s a bunch of bulls–t and a guy pretending to be Vince McMahon over in Scotland, essentially.”

Specifically on the subject of Hinkles’ offer to Punk, Ryback joked that Hinkles was not upfront about how many matches ‘The Second City Savior’ would be working for that million dollar payday.

“Yeah, he didn’t put in there that the contract is for seven years and 34 tournaments! Yeah, I don’t know. I think he’s just happy. He’s probably jerking off that he is getting mentioned on the podcast right now.” Ryback added, “sign me up! I want to be his first opponent over there. We can right all the wrongs. My only demand is one million and one dollars.”

As for SmackDown Live having a live screen during commercial breaks, Ryback said that the performers do not do anything during the breaks and they will now have to treat commercial breaks as though they are live.

“Guys have to now work the match through a break like it’s not a break. So for people out there listening, because [pro] wrestling has been completely exposed now and it’s all fake, when a break comes up, we all love this because we don’t do s–t during breaks and the crowd suffers greatly.” Ryback said, “so now you’re going to have to treat it like it’s live even though nobody’s going to be paying attention to the little goddamn box on the screen.”

Ryback explained that the performers take it easy during commercial breaks, so that the television audience does not miss out on important action.

“You don’t kill yourself during the break. You’re not typically doing superplexes and things you know. You might throw a guy into a barricade and then go taunt the crowd for a minute. You’re not doing anything crazy. Do you know what I mean because it’s not being shown on television?”

Also, Ryback joked that WWE should have a shot of WWE Chairman Vince McMahon in the gorilla position during commercial breaks.

“I think they should cut out to a small box of Vince in gorilla. Do you know how many people would watch Vince just tweeting on his phone or just f–king sitting there eating a protein bar or having a shake? I wouldn’t go to the bathroom. That’s what they should f–king do, a shot of gorilla during the f–king break! That’s what I want to see.”

When asked whether he has any plans of returning to WWE any time soon, Ryback responded in the negative.

“True story. I got two phone calls today from Boca Raton, Florida. Boca Raton? I was at home doing something on one of them and I was at the gym on the other. And I forget what it was for. What was it for? I don’t know what it’s for. I think it was just some promotional thing, but in my head, I picture Vince in his Boca Raton home because he used to train, he has a house there or something, and he’s calling me and I’m like, ‘this should be an interesting voicemail’ and it’s not and I pick it up on the second one or the third one or whatever and they called a lot today, and it was some promotional thing for some vacation thing and I was just like, ‘Jesus Christ!’ No, not any time, not even. I wish them nothing but the best and all performers there. It’s just not happening right now.”

Vince Russo Has Reached Out to Vince McMahon This Past Week

Vince Russo is a controversial man. Some like the guy, others don’t. To some, the man has the brain of a genius and to others he is out-of-touch or was never in-touch with the business to begin with.

Fightful are reporting that Vince Russo contacted his former boss, Vince McMahon this past week to offer his help with the product.

Russo explained how he contacted McMahon, the words he chose and why he decided to do so.

“I am still a wrestling fan at heart, going back to when I was 10, 11 years old. I hate today’s product. To me, it’s not professional wrestling,” Russo said. “I don’t want to be the guy critiquing the problem without saying ‘Here’s my olive branch, I think I can help you as the numbers go down every week.’ I didn’t use the word help. You don’t tell Vince McMahon he needs help. I said ‘if you want me to contribute, I’d love to once again contribute.’”

“Vince never seems receptive. His response is always a couple of words. He’s not that guy. He’s the same guy that told me I could get a nanny (to raise) your kids.

Wrestling Rumors will keep you up to date on McMahon potentially having Russo come work for the company again, though it seems unlikely McMahon will accept Russo’s offer to help.

Editor’s Note:

I highly doubt nor do I want Vince Russo to come back and work for the company. I am sure there will be many people that do, but I would be against it. The product today caters to a wealth of demographics which also creates sponsors for the company. Women’s wrestling has in my eyes never meant more than it does right now. Vince Russo could turn that all around.

What do you think on Vince Russo possibly coming back to WWE? What do you expect from him? Let us know in the comments below, or over on our Facebook page or Twitter account. Additionally, you can follow me at @SOSNH1995 on Twitter for more content. Thank you.

Big E on Creative Freedom in WWE, Influence of Social Media

IT’S A NEW DAY, YES IT IS! Big E, Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods. A recipe for perfection. Dynamic, interesting gimmick, fans love them.

According to WrestlingInc, during the recent tour of India for WWE, Big E spoke with ‘NDTV Gadgets 360’ on the influence of social media and how much creative freedom The New Day has in WWE.

Big E was first asked about creative freedom in WWE. As most fans should know, WWE has a list of writers who produce each show, character and storylines. Unless trusted by the higher ups, it is unlikely that a talent will get the opportunity to produce their own promos or modify those given to them.

“We have a long leash for sure. That’s taken time to get trust from the higher ups and people of importance. But yeah, we don’t write everything. A lot of times we’re given scripts and we disagree with the script’s directions and we have some leniency to retool. A lot of times it’s ‘hey we need an overhaul and none of it works’ and sometimes it’s just a few tweaks here and there.

“We’ve been very fortunate. A lot of talent really don’t have that ability to just say ‘hey I want to rewrite this promo’ but it’s really helped us. And one thing we’ve noticed too is that as much as we – as a company – try to attach ourselves to pop culture, we felt also that a lot times they were a little outdated or a little bit, outside of their window of freshness.”

Big E also spoke about how influential New Day has become through various forms of social media. Nowadays, most people use some form of social media such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or Snapchat. New Day wanted to utilize this to create a more ‘current’ product for the WWE Universe.

“We’re on Twitter, we’re on Instagram, we like viral videos. It’s something we felt was needed in WWE. Something that was contemporary, something that was just hot on Instagram or Twitter or when Vine was still a thing, we wanted to implement that stuff immediately. Cause that’s the stuff we were just in the car buzzing over that made us laugh so why not use that the next day? I still vividly remember the hubbub over the Steph Curry shoes happened and when we talked in the car I think, it was a day later and we were in New Orleans and Kofi was all like ‘alright I gotta get these shoes’ and we wore them on TV and then we had to clown them for it.

“But it’s things like that people enjoy. People want stuff that’s up to date, that feels current, that feels fresh, that’s in the zeitgeist, that’s still being talked about so that’s an element that we’ve tried to use to separate ourselves and we take a lot of pride in that.”

The New Day returned to WWE programming via ‘Talking Smack‘ last week, where Xavier Woods announced the birth of his child. This past ‘Smackdown Live,’ The New Day made their anticipated debut to be announced as the number one contenders for The Usos’ WWE Smackdown Live Tag Team Championship.

[This post contains video, click to play]

Editor’s Note:

Big E and The New Day in general are amazing. I love what they said, because I find it so telling. All three members of The New Day are amazing talents. I’ve always thought Big E never got his chance with the ‘5 count,’ Xavier couldn’t reach his potential in his previous gimmick and Kofi Kingston has been severely underrated in my opinion his entire career.

What do you think of what Big E had to say? Should The New Day have full control over everything they do? Sound off in the comments below, or over on our Facebook page or Twitter account. Additionally, you can follow me at @SOSNH1995 on Twitter if you so desire.
