Breaking News: Paige Is Backstage at ‘Raw’ Tonight

[This post contains video, click to play]

Charly Caruso and the team on WWE’s Snapchat have quietly revealed that Paige is backstage at ‘Raw’ tonight and hinted that tonight will be huge.

In a post to their Snapchat account, Charly Caruso was seen talking about being backstage at ‘Raw’ tonight. As she is explaining how tonight will go down, you are able to see Paige crawling from behind a box backstage. She walks behind Caruso, as Caruso asks others off screen what they are looking at.

It is unknown if this signifies a return for Paige, given the entire dispute with WWE on drug violations and being medically clear. We recently posted that she was training for an in-ring return. She could be there tonight for a number of reasons, so we can’t jump to conclusions.

Despite this, we felt it necessary to update you on her even having the slightest potential of making a return to the ring tonight. Stay tuned to Wrestling Rumors for the latest in professional wrestling news.

Editor’s Note:
YES! I am so glad she is back! Hopefully she does return tonight!

Main Event Results – July 27, 2017

Main Event
Date: July 27, 2017
Location: Verizon Center, Washington D.C.
Commentators: Vic Joseph, Corey Graves

It’s the nation’s capital edition of the show and that means….well nothing of note really as we have the random assortment of matches which could go anywhere on this show. That’s a good thing though and hopefully the Raw highlights are better than what they do around here at times. Let’s get to it.

Opening sequence.

Cedric Alexander vs. Tony Nese

Nese glares at him a bit and gets armdragged down for his efforts. That earns Alexander a hot shot onto the top rope and the springboard moonsault for good measure. It’s off to the Tree of Woe so Nese can work the abs (both Cedric’s with the kicks and his own with the crunches) and it’s off to a bodyscissors. Cedric fights back with some shots to the face though, followed by the great looking springboard clothesline for two. Nese gutbusters him to stay on the ribs, only to get kicked in the head. The Lumbar Check gives Cedric the pin at 5:28.

Result: Cedric Alexander b. Tony Nese – Lumbar Check (5:28)

From Raw!

Here’s Kurt Angle to open things up. Angle talks about the weight being lifted off his shoulders since he’s announced Jason Jordan as his son.  As for the #1 contendership, Brock Lesnar will be defending against…..someone we’ll find out later as Braun Strowman interrupts to say he better be getting the title shot. Cue Samoa Joe to say he wants another shot at Lesnar because he knows he can finish him. Strowman and Reigns can finish each other but he better get his title shot. Roman comes out to say Joe and Strowman haven’t done anything to earn a shot and lists off all of his accomplishments.

Angle changes his mind again and makes the four way for Summerslam. Joe isn’t happy but the brawl breaks out anyway with Joe and Reigns hammering away on Strowman. That lasts all of thirty seconds before they start fighting each other. Strowman gets back up and beats on Reigns before dominating Angle’s security. Joe gets the choke on Strowman until the locker room comes out for another failed save attempt. Reigns spears Strowman down but he pops right back up and sends Joe and Reigns outside.

And again!

Bayley vs. Sasha Banks

The winner gets Bliss, who sits in on commentary, at Summerslam. Feeling out process to start with Bayley grabbing a rollup but getting smacked in the face. Bayley gets in a kick and the charge in the corner, only to get knocked off the top as we take a break. Back with Bayley fighting out of a double arm crank and getting two off a facebuster. The Backstabber into the Bank Statement has Bayley in trouble until she flips over into a rollup for two.

They slap it out with Banks getting the better of it, only to miss the top rope knees. Bayley knees her in the head but gets caught with a Shining Wizard to put both of them down. A fired up Bayley gets more aggressive than she’s been in a long time and slugs away, only to have a superplex broken up. Sasha hits a frog splash but Bayley reverses the cover into a rollup for the pin and the title shot at 13:14.

Result: Bayley b. Sasha Banks – Rollup (13:14)

Kalisto vs. Apollo Crews

Crews doesn’t waste time and grabs a slam to start, followed by the dropkick. He’s certainly athletic. A headscissors sends him outside though, followed by a hurricanrana to stagger Crews even more. Kalisto gets kicked out of the air though and we take a break. Back with Crews getting two off a slingshot senton and Kalisto’s sunset flip getting the same.

The masked one gets in his variety of kicks, including the rolling kick to the head. The hurricanrana driver looks to set up the Salida Del Sol but Kalisto has to settle for a tornado DDT for two instead. A moonsault misses though and Crews’ Toss Powerbomb is good for the pin at 7:36.

Result: Apollo Crews b. Kalisto – Toss Powerbomb (7:36)

Clips of Kurt Angle announcing Jason Jordan as his son.

And finally.

Dean Ambrose/Seth Rollins vs. Miz/Miztourage

Ambrose hammers on Axel to start and runs him over for some right hands and elbows to the head. Rollins comes in for a knee drop as we see Sheamus and Cesaro watching. That….could be interesting actually. Miz comes in and eats a Sling Blade, followed by the Miztourage being cleared out as we take a break. Back with Rollins in trouble as Miz cuts off a hot tag attempt.

Miz gets two off a neckbreaker and it’s off to Axel for a dropkick (Axel: “HOW GOOD WAS THAT???”). Rollins fights off Dallas but it’s still not enough as Miz grabs a DDT for two more. We hit the YES Kicks with Corey singing Miz’s praises because he can. The good old double clothesline puts both Rollins and Miz down, followed by a quick roll over to Ambrose for the hot tag.

House is quickly cleaned, including a rebound lariat on Dallas. The top rope elbow is good for two as everything breaks down. Axel escapes Dirty Deeds and it’s the Skull Crushing Finale for two on Ambrose. Stereo suicide dives put the Miztourage down though and it’s Dirty Deeds to put Miz away at 17:47.

Result: Dean Ambrose/Seth Rollins b. Miz/Miztourage – Dirty Deeds to Miz (17:47)

Post match Seth puts out the fist for the Shield pose but Ambrose leaves him hanging to end the show.

John Cena to Star in New “Transformers” Movie Spinoff

[This post contains video, click to play]

It looks like we once again, we won’t be able to see him. At least not in a WWE ring for a while.

According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, John Cena has landed a new role in the upcoming spinoff of the “Transformers” movies, titled “Bumblebee.”

From the report:

The story is set in the year 1987, where Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small California beach town. Charlie (Steinfeld), on the cusp of turning 18 and trying to find her place in the world, discovers Bumblebee, battle-scarred and broken. When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns this is no ordinary yellow VW bug.

Paramount has set a release date of Dec. 21, 2018.

The leader of the “CeNation” has been accumulating a number of awards recently, including receiving an Emmy Award nomination for a recent commercial that he starred in.

Cena is currently scheduled to face Shinsuke Nakamura on this week’s episode of “Smackdown Live,” with the winner facing Jinder Mahal at “SummerSlam” for the WWE Championship.

Editor’s Note:

I’m not surprised by this announcement. Cena is quickly working his way up the Hollywood ranks, and I have to imagine that it’s only a matter of time before he makes the transition to the silver screen full time.

Video: Samoa Joe vs. Brock Lesnar at House Show

We’re doing a sequel. The main event of “Great Balls of Fire” was a heck of a brawl between Brock Lesnar vs. Samoa Joe for Lesnar’s Universal Title. They beat each other for a short yet intense few minutes until Lesnar defeated Samoa Joe to retain the title via an F5. As it turns out, they did it again recently.

On Friday night in the final WWE show at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Lesnar defended the title against Samoa Joe again at a “Smackdown Live” house show. The match was another short outing with Lesnar retaining via the F5 and WWE has released a video showing Lesnar’s entrance and a few moments of the match. Here you go:

Opinion: I love it when you get special matches like this on a house show. Lesnar vs. Samoa Joe was an awesome match at the pay per view and it’s cool to see something like this as a surprise. Lesnar is a special treat by definition and that makes this something fun for the fans to see, especially in a show that WWE wanted to make feel important.

Do you want to see Lesnar vs. Samoa Joe again? Will Samoa Joe ever win a WWE World Title? Let us know in the comments below.

Two More Matches Added to “Monday Night Raw”

In case that triple threat wasn’t enough. This week’s episode of “Monday Night Raw” is a major spot on the road to “Summerslam 2017”. With less than three weeks to go before the biggest party of the summer, it’s time to really start cranking things up and that’s why we have two more matches announced.

[This post contains video, click to play]

In addition to the already announced triple threat match between Roman Reigns, Braun Strowman and Samoa Joe, PWInsider.com by way of 411mania.com, tonight will also see Bayley vs. Nia Jax and Big Show vs. Big Cass. These three matches are all in addition to Jason Jordan appearing on MizTV.

Opinion: I would much rather have Big Show vs. Big Cass air on TV instead of going all the way to “Summerslam 2017” in a match that isn’t going to feel very important. Let Big Cass have a more important match on that stage where he gets to show off instead of being put in a match that isn’t going to be treated as something important if he’s facing Big Show.

Which of these matches interests you more? What do you see Big Cass doing at “Summerslam 2017”? Let us know in the comments below.

Video: Sheamus Puts Mark Cuban Through a Table

Remember this one? Celebrities often get involved in wrestling and it often goes badly for them. While it seems like a good fit, these people who come in from outside wrestling are often subject to quite the beating from the wrestlers who are more used to the physical style of doing business.

WWE has posted a video of Sheamus putting Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban through a table on the December 7, 2009 episode of “Monday Night Raw”. Cuban was guest hosting the show and got into an altercation with Sheamus, who attacked him and put him through a table as a result. This was Cuban’s second appearance with the company after also appearing at “Summerslam 2003”.

[This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: This is kind of a random video to throw out there but there’s nothing wrong with opening the vault every now and then. It got them on “SportsCenter” more than once and that’s a good thing in WWE’s eyes. Cuban is someone who would seem to have a blast working with WWE and the fact that he came back to do something else seems to back that up.

Did you like Cuban’s appearances? What is your favorite celebrity appearance in WWE? Let us know in the comments below.

Chris Jericho Gets Into Altercation with a Fan

Maybe he should put himself on the List. Chris Jericho is one of the best wrestlers of all time and one of the most entertaining performers in the sport today. That being said, he’s also a human and someone who is going to lose his cool from time to time. That seems to have been the case recently in New York City.

According to TMZ, Jericho was recently in the city for a tribute to David Z, a musician who recently passed away. Jericho was asked for photos and autographs and while he initially agreed, he started to decline a bit later. This lead to a fan shouting at Jericho, who eventually swore at him, saying “F*ck your ass.” Jericho later told a friend of his that “These guys are f*cking pussies.” According to 411mania.com, Jericho later released a statement on the incident:

David Z was a good friend of mine and I was mentally and emotionally shattered after paying tribute to him and essentially saying goodbye to him Friday night. I was not in a good state of mind at that time and instead of ignoring a pushy (aka rude) fan which is what I would usually do, I snapped. My apologies to all involved and God bless David Z.

[This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: This is a situation where context is very important. Jericho was at a memorial service for someone he seemed closed to. You can’t expect him to be in the right state of mind here and the issues with the fans, while not great, are somewhat understandable. The apology seemed legitimate enough and that’s all you can ask for.

Do you accept Jericho’s apology? When do you think he’ll be back on WWE TV? Let us know in the comments below.

Betting Odds for John Cena vs. Shinsuke Nakamura In Place

[This post contains video, click to play]

In what will be a historic “dream match,” John Cena and Shinsuke Nakamura will go one-on-one on this week’s episode of “Smackdown Live.” The winner of that match will earn the right to challenge Jinder Mahal for the WWE Championship at this year’s “SummerSlam.”

However, this is not the only reason why this match will be the first of its kind.

According to a new report from F4WOnline, betting odds have been put up for this TV match for the first time in history. As of now, Cena is the -160 favorite and Nakamura is +120, which means that there’s no smart money bet involved.

It had been previously reported that Cena was scheduled to face Mahal for the title at the “biggest party of the summer.”

Editor’s Note:

I’m not sure why odds have been put in place, or even how these decisions are made. That being said, things seem pretty even right now, which means that this contest could go either way. I cannot wait for this matchup, as two of my favorite performers in the company are going to absolutely tear the house down!
