Now listen, this doesn’t sound like make believe. The independent wrestling scene is always worth keeping an eye on, if nothing else for the possibility that someone could come along and become the next big star in a major promotion. At the same time though, there’s always the chance that an established veteran could go to the independent circuit and then bounce back up to a main roster. At the moment, that seems to be a possibility with a pretty big name.
According to the Twitter account for an upcoming comic convention called Stocktoncon, John Hennigan (John Morrison/Johnny Mundo), the current Lucha Underground and AAA Triple Crown Champion, has had to cancel his upcoming appearance due to contractual obligations to Global Force Wrestling. Stocktoncon runs from August 19-20 and Global Force Wrestling will be taping “Impact Wrestling” on August 17-20. Hennigan recently appeared at some GFW house shows last weekend.
Here’s the Tweet in question:
Very sorry to announce that due to a contractural agreement with GFW Impact Wrestling, @TheRealMorrison is unable to attend StocktonCon

In case you haven’t seen any of his Lucha Underground work, here’s Hennigan against current GFW World Champion Alberto El Patron from “Ultima Lucha”, the promotion’s top show:
Opinion: Hennigan has completely revitalized his career in Lucha Underground and it would be nice to see him on a major stage again. There’s always a possible return to WWE but for now, I could easily see him becoming a top star in the promotion. GFW is running their Destination X special this coming week and Hennigan would be a very nice surprise.
Do you want Hennigan to come to GFW? Do you think he’ll ever head back to WWE? Let us know in the comments below.
